Our Story

Where we've come from

I think downtown Cincinnati is one of the most incredible and interesting places in the world, don’t you? Well, Christ the King Church started as a big dream in that God put in my head who thought it would be great to start a new church serving the downtown Cincinnati neighborhoods.

So I packed up my family of 5 into our 1998 Honda minivan and moved 100 miles north from Louisville to Cincinnati in the summer of 2008.We were pretty much scared to death because we didn’t know anybody in Cincinnati and yet we were stupid enough to think we could move here to start a church.
That’s where God really amazed us. We started a Bible study with the only 6 people we knew at the time and it continued to grow over the next few months.

What we're doing right now

That little Bible study has bloomed into a wonderful team of people who love Cincinnati, love Jesus, and want to serve the city. As of January 10th, 2010, we have officially begun our public worship services. We meet every Sunday morning at 10am in the Corryville Community Center (2823 Eden Avenue, 45219). Our goal is to put down some roots in uptown and demonstrate the love of Christ there to our neighborhood. Several of our members live in and around the neighborhood where we meet and are getting to know neighbors. We also have several college students from UC involved.

Here’s a few questions you can ask yourself to know if this is a good fit for you:

  • Do you love Jesus?
  • Do you believe that the Bible is true?
  • Do you think we should love our city and serve the city?
  • Do you care for people who are hurting?
  • Do you like to make new friends?

If you answered “yes” to these questions, then you’d be a perfect fit. Just maybe God is calling you to join us in our mission to uptown.

We need people who are musicians and artists, networkers and helpers, servant leaders and humble followers, and on and on and on. It’s all about team, with each person giving of themselves and serving in the way God created them.

What we're doing next

Maybe you see yourself as an urban missionary. If so, then send me an email at michael@christthekingcincinnati.com and introduce yourself. Or maybe you’d like to visit one of our services on Sunday morning. More info can be found on the visitor info page.
