Urban Cincinnati Church | Values
Truth.
Christianity is all about the truth of who God is. We don't get to make up some vague notions of who we think God is and then worship that. God is who He is. He loves us and he confronts us. That's the way relationships work. We don't get to tell others who to be; we love them for who they are. God is the same way. We don't get to tell God who to be; God tells us who to be. God is revealed to us in the Bible. The Bible is God's Word to us, and it is true. Everything we do at CTK Church is unashamedly biblically based.
Reconciliation.
The heart of the gospel is reconciliation: people being reconciled to God through Jesus Christ and to each other. Reconciliation happens across economic, cultural, racial and ethnic boundaries, and we desire to enjoy and embody the richness of biblical reconciliation through our biblical diversity.
Replication.
Jesus’ charge to the church is to “make disciples of all nations.” Our desire is to live this out through outreach into the community through tangible service and helping others to follow Jesus personally as disciples. This process of making new disciples is what we call replication: the continual transformation of more and more lives.
Community.
People live downtown for a reason: other people. But even in the midst of so much population, many still feel alone and isolated. The life of the church should be lived out in community with other people – sharing meals, kids playing together, serving one another, and worshiping together. Our church will encourage people to live in close proximity to one another and in close community with one another as much as possible.
Compassion.
The church is the primary means of social justice. Everyone in our city should have equity when it comes to employment, education, income, and other opportunities. We will actively promote behaviors that will bring greater justice to the poor and disenfranchised in Cincinnati.
